Soy Estrella de Jesus Blackburn Dorado, artista plástica con especialidad en la pintura al óleo.

Nací en el Huila, un departamento del sur de Colombia de donde proviene mi familia materna. Mi familia paterna es de ascendencia Irlandesa, lo que me ha exhortado a mantener la mente abierta a influencias de diferentes culturas. Perdí a mis padres a los tres años, pero siento su esencia divina en mis venas, en mi espíritu.

Me trasladé al Valle del Cauca, Colombia cuando era niña y en mi juventud conocí a mi esposo, decidimos tener una familia grande y vivir en el campo, siguiendo el legado de mis suegros que contiene una fuerte idiosincracia campesina y de la afrocolombianidad del suroriente del país, influencia notable en mi obra. Cuatro hijos son el resultado de mis 45 años de matrimonio, a quien he podido entregarles todo mi amor, el mismo amor y cuidado que he compartido con el arte desde hace más de 25 años.

El arte, en especial la pintura, es el medio más puro que he encontrado para expresar los sentimientos profundos de mi alma, junto al desarrollo de un centenar de proyectos de incalculable valor social que he podido liderar como administradora de empresas que también soy, en el territorio donde vivimos, han significado para mí, una total realización.

I am Estrella de Jesus Blackburn Dorado, a plastic artist specializing in oil painting.

I was born in Huila, a department in the south of Colombia where my mother’s family comes from. My paternal family is of Irish descent, which has encouraged me to keep an open mind to influences from different cultures. I lost my parents at the age of three, but I feel their divine essence in my veins, in my spirit.

I moved to Valle del Cauca, Colombia when I was a child and in my youth I met my husband, we decided to have a large family and live in the countryside, following the legacy of my in-laws that contains a strong peasant idiosyncrasy and Afro-Colombianism from the southeast of the country, a notable influence in my work. Four children are the result of my 45 years of marriage, to whom I have devoted all my love, the same love and care that I have shared with art for more than 25 years.

Art, specially painting, is the purest means I have found to express the deepest feelings of my soul, together with the development of a hundred projects of immeasurable social value that I have been able to lead as a business administrator that I also am, in the territory where we live, have meant for me, a total fulfillment.
